What horror books would you recommend?

I want to read something creepy, something that is bound to give you nightmares. What are some of the best horror novels out there?
goosebumps lol I’m going to read a couple of them just for the fun of it. Bring my inner 90’s child out.

For a cheap thrill, try R.L. Stine’s books like the Fear Street series. It has good suspense and diverse plots.

  • Bronagh:

A classic but still one of the best ones, I’d go for The Shining, if you haven’t all ready read it. But it also depends on what you find scary, go for ones with things that creep you out (supernaturals, serial killers etc)

the shining (most of stephan king books)
    the white room
    helter skelter (true story)

I highly recommend Stephen King. I know a couple people already mentioned it, but The Shining is amazing. The book is definitely better than the movie.

    1. The Gunslinger

In addition to Stephen King, try The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks. House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski. The Gentling Box by Lisa Manetti. Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill. Stinger or Swan Song by Robert McCammon. Dismember by Daniel Pyle.
